About the Granddaughter Behind the Restoration

I’m the oldest of the grandchildren—by a full ten years—and that meant I had the rare gift of growing up with Grandpa Dan while he was still young, active, and always on the move. We shared countless adventures together: skiing, boating, camping, and even four-wheeling across the dikes of Alaska. More than anything, we shared a love for learning, creating, and getting our hands dirty building or fixing something.

Now, at 28, I’m an artist with a studio at Artisans Asylum—a vibrant community of makers, builders, and creatives. Surrounded by welders, woodworkers, and inventors, I’ve come to appreciate even more how deeply Grandpa’s legacy of craftsmanship runs through me. His career in woodworking was just one layer of his creative soul. From functional builds to beautifully detailed projects like jewelry boxes or miniature replicas of his mother’s kitchen stool, he taught me that making things with love and care is an art in itself.

Restoring Hunky Dory is more than a project—it’s a way of reconnecting with the man who taught me the value of hard work, imagination, and building something that lasts. here to help turn your dreams into reality with a dash of fun and a sprinkle of magic.
